How to change settings to run QTP in Hidden and Fast Mode when running tests from QC

Hi all,

Today I am going to extend my previous post on Quality Center in which I have told you to run failed case specified number of times. In this post, I am going to tell you how to configure various options when running Tests from Quality Center…
To configure these options, go to installation directory of Quick Test Professional (for me, it is: C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin). There is a file called mic.ini in this location.
Open it. It will open in notepad. Search for [RemoteAgent] section in the file.

Under this heading, there are 2 lines:

RunQTPHidden=0
RunInFastMode=0

QTP runs in Hidden mode and Fast Mode by default when you run Tests from QC

Change RunQTPHidden=0 to RunQTPHidden=1 if you don’t want to run QTP in Hidden mode when running tests from QC.

Change RunInFastMode=0 to RunInFastMode=1 if you don’t want to run QTP in Fast mode when running tests from QC.

Another Method:
You can also configure QTP not to run in Hidden Mode by invoking QTP Remote Agent Settings.

It is located in bin folder in QTP Installation Directory (in my case, it is:  C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin\AQTRmtAgent.exe)

In Remote Agent Settings Window, under Test Handling section, uncheck “Run Quick Test in Hidden Mode” and click on OK button.

Will try to bring more stuff on this subject…
Till Then…Keep Automating…
